Nature of the disease:

        Dengue is a tropical, flu-like and viral diseases caused by a bite of an infected mosquito. Generally, outbreaks occur during rainy seasons. Dengue virus is common in tropical places such as Asia, Africa, the Pacific and part of America. It is usually widespread in cities than rural areas. It is seldom found in mountainous areas.

 

Causes:

        Any family dengue virus (usually four different viruses) causes dengue and dengue hemorrhagic fever. Infected mosquitoes live among us and often breed on placed where there is stagnant and clear water flowerpots, old tire or drums and any storage containers close in our usual residence.

        It is specifically transmitted form one individual to another through a bite of a female mosquito (two species of Aedes aegypti mosquito). These mosquitoes bite during the day.

Effects:

        Dengue patients experience the following symptoms such as headaches, high fever, rushes, exhaustion, swollen glands, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, muscle and joint pains.

        In severe complications, it leads to dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF), causes the blood vessels to leak that is often fatal. It causes bleeding on certain areas such as the gums, nose and under the skin and accompanied with black stools or redness in palms and soles. In worst cases, it results to dengue shock syndrome that includes enormous bleeding and severe shock.

The risk factors for DHF include the age, type of dengue virus and immune system.

        Fortunately, the World Health Organization was still unsuccessful in developing treatment for dengue fever.

 

Cure/Healing:
